The Cronulla RSL Chess Club had the distinct pleasure of hosting two of the most esteemed figures in Australian chess: Grandmaster (GM) Ian Rogers and Women FIDE Master (WFM) Cathy Rogers. Cronulla, Australia – Each month, Australia faces the heartbreaking loss of six veterans to suicide. To raise awareness and funds to address this issue, Cronulla RSL proudly supports the ZERO600 Challenge by Invictus Australia. From 1st to 6th June 2024, we invite the community to join us in early morning activities to honor our veterans.

In collaboration with Strava Sharks, we will host a community run on Sunday, 2nd June at 5:55am, starting at ‘The Alley’ in Cronulla. This free, 6km social-paced run along the Esplanade symbolizes the six veterans lost each month. Embrace the challenge and help us move from darkness into light, supporting vital programs for veterans and their families.

The Cronulla Sub-Branch will donate 45 book vouchers to local schools, thanks to the Books in Lieu program in conjunction with ANZAC Day.

We joined forces with Heartbeat of Sport to #MakeItRed in Cronulla. Nurses provided health checks, clubs organised runs/swims, and Heart of the Nation offered CPR & AED training.

Cronulla came alive with heartfelt tributes and community spirit on ANZAC Day, as thousands gathered at our iconic beach to honor ANZAC Day. The event, held against the backdrop of our beloved beach, drew an estimated 15,000 attendees to honor the sacrifices and legacy of our service men & women. Over $7,000 was rasised to support AWAMO & Military War Dog Manic.

9 News visited us to meet Manic, Sutherland Shire’s Veteran War Dog. Manic went from a pound puppy to a Solider, and is leading the way to change for Military Working Dogs.

On Friday the 5th of April Cronulla RSL hosted Sutherland Shire Council’s 2nd Youth Week Climate and Biodiversity Forum. This full day event was facilitated by volunteers from UN Youth NSW and attracted 53 students and their teachers from 7 Sutherland Shire high schools, and 1 guest high school from Georges River council.

The Cronulla RSL Table Tennis Club has received a significant boost through Category 2 Club Grants, enabling them to elevate their game to new heights.

Cronulla RSL Swimming Club ventured to Southport (QLD) last month, for the AIF Swimming Championships.

Cronulla RSL are proud to be nominated for a ClubsNSW Community Award (Education). Our commitment to water safety and lifesaving initiatives has earned us this honour. Together, with Surfers Rescue 24/7, we're making waves in our community and empowering locals to learn vital lifesaving skills they can use whilst enjoying our local waterways.

As we approach ANZAC Day, Cronulla Sub Branch is seeking support of their Books in Lieu program. Through the simple yet powerful act of donating books instead of wreaths, they honor the memory of veterans while offering vital support to our local schools.

Cronulla RSL ClubGRANT has assisted Wanda Surf Life Saving Club, to purchase x4 First Aid Kits. These kits will provide First Aid to the members of our community when visiting Wanda Beach and as a teaching tool in our Lifesaving and Rescue Education Programs run by the Club.
