Cronulla RSL ClubGRANT helps support Wanda Surf Life Saving Club
Cronulla RSL are proud to support our community heroes at Wanda Surf Life Saving Club! Through the ClubGRANTS program, we've provided four fully stocked First Aid Kits to the Club to help keep beachgoers safe. From minor scrapes to major emergencies, these kits are essential for their patrols, education programs, and community events. Together, we're ensuring everyone enjoys our beautiful beaches safely. Thank you, Wanda SLSC, for all you do!
Report from Wanda Surf Life Saving Club
Wanda Surf Life Saving Club is very thankful for the support given to us by the Cronulla RSL Club to provide 4 new fully stocked First Aid Kits.
These kits will be used to provide First Aid to the members of our community when visiting Wanda Beach and as a teaching tool in our Lifesaving and Rescue Education Programs run by the Club.
Last season attendance at the Wanda beach was 51,485 with our volunteer patrols performing 9,464 patrol hours with another season to proudly record ‘no lives lost’.
Each Lifesaving Patrol has trained First Aid members in attendance as well as holding an ART (Advanced Resuscitation Techniques) Award. The First Aid Kits are essential to our patrol operations.
On any day at the beach, our patrols treat a multitude of first aid events including minor insect bites and stings, sun stroke, dehydration and marine stingers all the way to major board fin chops, dislocations and spinal injuries. It important that we have access to and are able to treat people with modern fully stocked first aid kits to get the best outcomes possible.
These new first aid kits will also be used at our Nippers and Red Fins Program on Sunday mornings over summer, at the many Surf Sports Carnivals that take place across all four Surf Clubs in the Bate Bay area, and during the Shire’s biggest community event held each July over the past 51 years – ‘The Sutherland 2 Surf Fun Run’ organised by Wanda SLSC as a major fundraiser for the Club.
Wanda SLSC is grateful to Cronulla RSL in enabling our volunteer Lifesavers to be adequately equipped to perform quality first aid services to enhance community safety and saves lives.
ClubGRANTS is a state wide initiative of NSW clubs, local councils and the NSW Government and is available to community groups, charities and sporting teams. It is designed to provide financial support for projects and front-line services in the local community and to ensure that the disadvantaged in the community are better positioned to benefit from the substantial contributions made by those clubs.
