11th Annual Cronulla Surf Life Saving Club Short Course Carnival
11th Annual Cronulla Surf Life Saving Club Short Course Carnival was held on Saturday, 9 November 2024. With nearly 500 competitors from Sydney’s surf clubs, the event showcased incredible talent and community spirit.
Kicking off at 6:30 am with the 2km Beach Runs, the day featured a variety of sprint-distance water and beach events, including swim, board, ski, sprints, flags, and multi-discipline challenges. Despite choppy conditions, athletes delivered thrilling performances. Highlights included wins by Kyle Mason (Wanda) and Sari McKee (North Cronulla) in the 2km Beach Runs, and Ironman and Ironwoman victories for Charlie Morris and Mikaela Mead (Elouera). Cronulla competitors excelled, claiming podium finishes in numerous categories, with teams also dominating the Board Relay.
Cheers were loudest for the U8–U13 and inclusive competitors, who displayed incredible heart in their races. Congratulations to Aden Clarke (North Cronulla), Finlay Tanger (Elouera), and Ryan Durney for standout performances.
Spectators enjoyed the vibrant atmosphere, with food, gelato, and lucky door prizes, including an Infront racing board won by Titoan Guilbert (Cronulla). Carnival Referee Phil Cole thanked the Cronulla Workforce, volunteers, and sponsors, including Cronulla RSL, for their vital support.
Cronulla SLSC claimed the overall point score trophy with 948 points, ahead of Wanda (610) and Elouera (532).
